Somebody asked me-- Why is dance sacred?
Here's what I know from being the living, breathing, walking example of the Muse of Dance & following Her embodied prayer. Dance is a... Sacred Container for Moving meditation - A practice in presence. Where is my breath? My gaze? My center? -- What shapes and rhythms am I expressing through my body? Are they intentional? Am I moving from unconscious habitual patterns or from present moment awareness? What feels good? What feels Right? or is it Left? How do I play with my conscious choice in the mix of moving parts all around me? How do I move my prayers from the thought-realms to the seen-realms of embodied manifestation? To make my prayers SEEN in the physical world. Watch my prayers come alive! Then, Amplified together when dancing together. Can I fully step-aside and allow a greater energy to move me, move through me? Abandon my thoughts or judgements of self. Surrender to a spiritual life force coursing through? Follow the IMPULSE alive in my body. Not over calculate, protect, care-take, or analyze but truly trust myself by following my intuitive impulse. Do I dare trust my desire to simply be? How can I fully BE in my body while also being with another? With a collective? Dance-- the paradox of existence at play. Expressing our individuality AND our unity through the larger organism of music & movement & togetherness. Leaning into a third entity where we are inter-dependent with one another. Trust ourselves, our structure & our softness. Trust others, their structure, their softness. We are brave to lean in. And safe to lean out. Moving from a place beyond belief systems, ideas, and language. No longer separate. Moving as One. Dancing is a Voice of Freedom. Freedom is the Dance of Impulse. Impulse connects us to the Source. Source is our Divine Nourishment ... milking us as we milk it. Conscious Dance: infusing intention into movement & connection.
